PhD Preparation. At time of writing, my PhD officially starts with an orientation event on August 27th. So, why start the diary now? Well, no time like the present! I am actively preparing to embark on the next 5 years of my life. I've got a pretty lucky oppurtunity ahead of me, so I don't wanna fuck it up by taking too long to get into a groove ;).

So, what am I actually doing? Well, for one I've already started doing research with my advisor, characterizing the stability of a particular method for novel view synthesis. More importantly though, I'm establishing a rapport with my advisor and being deliberate with my scheduling habbits. I'm working on getting better at using slides and such to present my results to my advisor week in and week out, and I've also mapped out which days I work on what project (I am still actively working on some projects from UG).

Outside of research, I am becoming increasingly involved in organizing events for Boston Symmetry, something I hope to be involved in throughout the entirety of my PhD.

I am also preparing for my 104 Days of Summer Vacation to end, and I am trying to make the most of it while I have the spare time. I will only becoming busier when I officially start my program. Some highlights of what I've consumed in my summer freedom: My Dinner with Andre, Bleach (plan to cosplay as Nel for next anime Boston), a bunch of studio Ghibli movies (including Porco Rosso!), and I just started Heated Rivarly.
